Bilingualism and Speech and/or Language Disorders
I have many children who are bilingual on my caseload. I have children who speak (are spoken to in) Korean, Mandarin and Spanish primarily in their home and English in school and other environments. I am often asked if a child being bilingual is what caused a child's speech and/or language issue. I am also asked if a child should only speak one language if they are having difficulties with their speech or language. This page is dedicated to giving you evidenced based information in regard to bilingualism and speech and/or language disorders.
